How you play

Crickee Rules

A 20-over match, six dice per over, 10 wickets in hand.

๐ŸŽฒ The six dice

Every over you roll six dice โ€” one per ball. Each face means:

  • 1Dot ball
  • 2Dot or Single
  • 3Single
  • 4Two runs
  • 5Four runs
  • 6Wicket chance

๐Ÿงค Wicket chances

A six is not an automatic wicket. It is a wicket chance: one extra die is rolled. A 5 or 6 (after any trait or event modifiers) is a wicket; 1โ€“4 is a dot ball.

Tail-end batters (number 8 and below) dig in once per over, taking โˆ’1 off one chance roll.

๐Ÿ The over

The batting side may attack an over for more boundaries at the cost of a higher wicket risk. The fielding captain picks the bowler: maximum four overs each and never two overs in a row.

Strike rotates ball by ball on odd runs, and at the end of each over.

๐Ÿง‘โ€โš–๏ธ Event cards

At the end of every over the umpire draws one card from the event deck. The card is applied to the six dice you just rolled โ€” before any wicket chance is settled โ€” so it can rewrite the over you thought you had.

What a card can do:

  • Convert a ball โ€” turn a dot into a four, or a single into a wicket chance.
  • Add or remove runs โ€” bonus runs go to the batter on strike.
  • Add or drop a ball โ€” a free hit, or rain cutting the over short.
  • Change a wicket chance โ€” cancel it, or shift the confirming roll by ยฑ1.
  • Gamble โ€” reroll a ball, or flip a coin between two outcomes.

After the card resolves, the match centre shows a What it changed list plus three before โ†’ after figures: runs off the bat, wicket chances live, and balls in the over. A struck-through number is the over as it stood before the card. Wicket chances are rolled after that, so the final over total can still move.

Example. You roll 1 ยท 4 ยท 0 ยท 2 ยท 0 ยท wicket chance โ€” 7 runs on the bat with one chance live. The umpire turns over Free Hit, which converts the chance into a four. Runs off the bat go 7 โ†’ 11 and wicket chances go 1 โ†’ 0, so the over finishes at 11 with no wicket.

Categories: Core (common swings), Tactical (captaincy calls), Special (rare, match-turning) and Flavour (colour, small effects).

โญ Player traits

Squads are dealt from the player pool; many players carry a trait.

  • ยท Power Hitter โ€” converts one Two into a Four per innings

  • ยท Death Specialist โ€” +1 to wicket-chance rolls in overs 17โ€“20

๐Ÿ† Winning

The side batting second must pass the first innings total. All out or 20 overs ends the innings. If the scores finish level, a Super Over settles it.
